A Connecticut native, Dr. Christopher Betz earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs before graduating from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania with his medical degree. He then went on to complete a residency in orthopedic surgery at Hofstra University, North Shore-LIJ Health System, and Peninsula Hospital Consortium in Plainview, New York. He also completed advanced fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester. 

Dr. Betz specializes in sports-related injuries with a focus on the knee, hip, and shoulder, utilizing the newest techniques. He strives to deliver quality care to get his patients back to their activities.

With a keen interest in research, Dr. Betz has authored numerous journal publications and given many presentations at professional society meetings. He has also served on the medical staff for the New Britain Bees and the Bristol Blues, local Connecticut baseball teams. Prior to serving the communities of Bristol and Torrington, Dr. Betz was on the medical staff for the Red Sox organization as well as the athletic departments of Worcester State University, Becker College, central Massachusetts public and prep schools, and Long Island public high schools. 

In addition to being a member of the local sports medicine community, Dr. Betz is a member of numerous professional organizations. His active memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, American Osteopathic Association, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Connecticut State Medical Society as well as The American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.

An active and avid sportsman himself, Dr. Betz spends his spare time weight lifting, running, and playing basketball and volleyball. He also enjoys martial arts, drawing, painting, playing the guitar, and cooking.

Dr. Betz primarily sees patients at our Bristol office, and is available in Torrington one day a week.
